PMB peer review resources

PMB is committed to providing the highest quality of peer review. When submitting to PMB, the refereeing of your article will be impartial, constructive and fair. Whilst the process is efficient and rapid, you can expect the refereeing to be rigorous.

Our referees play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of quality that PMB is known for and we are extremely grateful for your time and expertise.

We recognize that we have high expectations of our referees; requesting reliability and short reporting times, coupled with a thorough assessment of originality, significance and scientific vigour in light of research in the field and the scope of PMB. This is an important service to authors and we know that as an author yourself, you appreciate these same qualities in the review process when you submit to the journal.

To help you, the PMB Editorial Board has developed a series of resources focussed on peer review that we hope you will find useful:

Webinar: An introduction to best practices for refereeing a journal manuscript

Presented by Professor Simon Cherry, UC Davis and Editor-in-Chief of PMB, the goal of this webinar is to address best practices for reviewing a journal manuscript and address some of the challenges and pitfalls that frequently crop up during the peer review process. This webinar is aimed at those new to serving as a referee for a scientific journal—whether that be more generally, within the field of medical physics, or for PMB specifically.
