Abstract

Nuclear physics has a particular public relations problem with deep historical roots. Some of the steps being taken by the nuclear physics community to counter this are described in this article. In particular, a European organization, PANS, is taking a number of specific actions, including a travelling exposition, a book and a web page, to bring a truer image of nuclear physics before the public.
