PREFACE

CEESD 2018 was held in Penang, Malaysia, Nov. 30-Dec. 2, 2018. CEESD 2018 was organized by As Pacific Institute of Science and Engineering. The conference provides a useful and wide platform both f display the latest research and for exchange of research results and thoughts in broad Environment Engineering and Sustainable Development. The participants of the conference were from almost every pa of the world, with background of either academia or industry, even well-known enterprise. The success an prosperity of the conference is reflected high level of the papers received.

The proceedings are a compilation of the accepted papers and represent an interesting outcome of th conference. This book covers 2 chapters: 1. Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development; Water Pollution Control Engineering.

We would like to acknowledge all of those who supported CEESD 2018. Each individual and institution help were very important for the success of this conference. With the increasing in energy demand in social development, the organic waste liquid produced in industrial production and daily life is gradually increasing, and its pollution is also becoming increasingly serious. Concentrated on high concentration organic waste liquid incineration, the paper makes a study on the incineration characteristics of different simulation waste liquid in laboratory-scale horizontal incinerator and pilot-scale vertical incinerator was made in this paper. Especially, a key analysis was made on the incineration stability of the simulated wastewater under the different conditions and had a further analysis is of the secondary pollutants in the flue gas. As the calorific value of organic waste liquid increases, the auxiliary fuel required for combustion is gradually reduced. At the same time, in order to ensure the complete combustion of organic waste liquid and reduce the consumption of auxiliary fuel, it gives the quantitative relationship between the calorific value of organic waste liquid and auxiliary fuel.

Developing a water quality model which is based on FORTRAN to simulate the distribution of pollutant concentration after water pollution accidents and to apply it to the drinking water source area of Heshangshan is the intention of this research. Taking ammonia nitrogen as the main water environment index, the spatial and temporal distribution and flow rate of pollutants at the inlet of Heshangshan drinking water source were analysed, and compared with those before and after the dispatching. The upstream discharge of water source area is selected from dry period, fall period, flood season and storage period respectively. The results show that the influent pollutant concentration decreases gradually with the increase of upstream flow in the source area. Moreover, the higher the upstream flow rate, the faster the decrease of influent concentration and the easier to reach level III.

Municipal solid waste (MSW) generation that grows continuously without proper management become worrying phenomenon. Currently, Malaysia is dependent on landfills with almost 85% of waste collected ending up in dumpsites. In order to propose an alternative for solid waste management plan instead of landfill, and to develop a waste-to-energy (WtE) system, the details study of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated is crucial. This paper presents a proposal for energy recovery to produce RDF by studying the characterization of MSW generated in Malaysia; the physical and chemical properties (proximate and ultimate analysis, calorific value or energy content, and thermal analysis) of the waste components to produce a high-quality RDF. The raw MSW sample consisted of 45% organics and food waste, 13% plastics, 9% papers, and 12% diapers. For raw MSW sample, total moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, and fixed carbon were 14.60%, 7.05%, 69.35% and 9% respectively. Gross calorific value is 4538 kcal/kg and carbon content are 45%. The optimum produced RDF sample was found at operating temperature 400°C with total moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, and fixed carbon were 0.75%, 21.65%, 48.35% and 29.22% respectively. Gross calorific value is 6600.15 kcal/kg and carbon content are 64%.

In the present work CNG and enriched biogas (93% CH4 by vol.) have been experimentally compared for performance and emission characteristics in a dual fuel diesel engine. The diesel is used as the pilot fuel, which is directly injected into the engine cylinder. The CNG and biogas are used as the main fuels, which are inducted with the intake air in the intake manifold. The experimental observations are taken for steady state conditions at varying engine loads for maximum pilot fuel substitution conditions. The performance of the engine is evaluated based on energy and exergy analyses. The emission characteristics are shown for oxides of nitrogen (NOx), hydrocarbon (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and smoke emissions. It was found that enriched biogas showed the performance similar to that with CNG, whereas slight variations in the emissions were observed. The exergy efficiencies of 27.8% and 26.9% were calculated for CNG and biogas dual fuel operations respectively at the full load. Similarly, maximum pilot fuel substitutions were found 73.4% and 71.4% for the above conditions respectively.

Environmental Park has a role as a social space that function as a place where people could enjoy recreation, social interaction, educational space, and evacuation facilities. The importance of the availability of Environmental Park as a public open space is a challenge facing of urban areas. Limited land and the domination of private land ownership are often obstacles in the provision of Environmental Parks. This study aims to measure how far the successful use of the Environmental Park in Settlements could improve the quality of life of urban communities. The measurement of the success level is done by looking at the accessibility criteria, giving pleasure and interest, having a sense of place, comfort and attachment to the citizens. The study was carried out at 11 Environmental Parks in Duren Sawit District, namely Bambu Kuning Park, Cempaka Taman Cengkir Park, Taman Duren Sawit Indah, Jl.IG.Ngurah Rai Park, Kesenian Park, Lembah Palem Park, Malaka Selatan 2 Park, Pondok Kopi 8 Park, Rusun Klender Park and Viaduct Klender Park will be evaluated to measure the level of success. Evaluation is based on people's perceptions of the Environmental Park using a questionnaire. Random samples, using descriptive analysis and Qualitative Variation Index (IQV) to measure their achievement. From the results of the study the success rate of utilizing the overall he 11 environmental parks was not successful as a public open space. Finally, the existence of the Environmental Park is very necessary in urban areas and can contribute to realizing sustainable urban development.

The Chinese program for biodiesel use highlights the production of biodiesel from waste cooking oil (WCO). This paper addresses the design of a WCO-for-biodiesel supply chain and develops advanced modeling framework to make decisions to location, production, inventory, and distribution in different settings. This paper prooses a four-stage model to optimizae the biodisel supply chain from both economic and environment objectives. The first one is to minimize the colleciton facility and biorefinery constrcting costs associated with storage and transportation to the crushing plant. The second is to minimize GHG emission wihin the whole process of WCO-biodisel. Then the analysis is appliied to a case study in Jiangsu of China where has realized application in WCO-biodisel and have a great demand for biodiesel. The case is modeled using a spatially explicit integrated supply chain model. The resource is spatially characterized using a Geographic Information System (GIS) model that integrates and expands several existing resource assessments. We do a sensitivity analysis by alter one input parameter value like kitchen waste supply, transportation cost and conversion rates to get the the change in the size and location of the collection facility and biorefinery. Our study provides a comprehensive mathematical model which effectively bring together specific application feature especially in WCO-biodisel supply chains.

Black and smelly water bodies are generally caused by the enrichment and release of large amount of pollutants such as organic matter and heavy metals in sediments. Surface sediments at 11 sections of a severe polluted urban river in Nanjing were monitored to assess the pollution level and potential ecological risk. Results show that surface sediments were seriously polluted by heavy metals and contents of heavy metals were all higher than respective background values. Cd and Hg were major pollutants with relative high contents, following by Ni, As, and Zn. Comprehensive pollution load index of the river reached 4.1, indicating a "Progressive deteriorate" pollution level, with a contribution degree order of Cd>Hg>Pb>Zn>Cu>Ni>Cr>As. Most sections of the river exhibited high potential ecological risk with a contribution order of Cd>Hg>Pb>Cu>Ni>As>Zn>Cr. Additionally, there are significant positive correlations between Cu and organic matter (r = 0.947, p<0.01), and between Cu and nitrogen and phosphorus (r = 0.866 and 0.860, p<0.01). Cd and Hg contributed most to the high ecological risk of sediment and possibly came from similar anthropogenic sources due to significant correlations. Ecological dredging and disposal methods for the sediments should be seriously considered when comprehensively rehabilitating such a river.

The existence of green open space in urban areas can help create a healthy environment. A healthy environment can affect public health. One of healthy environments which affects public health is in Kalijodo Green Open Space, Jakarta, Indonesia. The availability of sport facilities at Kalijodo Green Open Space has triggered this place to be visited as a place for sports and recreation. This study aimed to describe the role of Kalijodo Green Open Space environmental quality for public health in Jakarta city. The approach used in this study was mixed method through questionnaire, interview, observation, and literature study methods with a total sample of 148. The results showed that the environmental quality in Kalijodo Green Open Space helped create health for the society. This could be seen from the results of a strong public perception of environmental quality in Kalijodo Green Open Space reaching 65.7%. This strong environmental quality had an impact on the health of society who used sport facilities in this place. The society who did sports got results in the form of a healthier body condition and a sense of optimism after doing activities in Kalijodo Green Open Space.

The city growth and the increased number of population should be balanced with sufficient public facility, as well as health facility. The provision of health facility is an obligation of the government, including regional government. Since 2016, the provincial government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta has opened District General Hospital, which is a class D hospital, as a 'bridge' between primary service facility (Public Health or Puskesmas) and City General Hospital in order to respond the increase of the community's need of secondary healthcare service more equally. In addition to increase the number of health facilities owned by the provincial government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, the establishment of District General Hospital brings change in the accessibility and utilization of health service facility in Jakarta. The aim of this research is to find out geographical accessibility and utilization of District General Hospital in East Jakarta, as well as to explain the relationship between the accessibility and utilization. This research uses analytical descriptive method, helped by GIS software, using secondary data of each hospital. Based on the research, it can be seen that the establishment of 3 District General Hospitals in East Jakarta geographically has been able to reach almost all areas in East Jakarta, except for a few areas on the northeast side of East Jakarta. It indicates that the provincial government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta has successfully eased the geographical access of the East Jakarta residents to the health service facility.

Housing is a basic right for humans other than clothing and food. Housing development must see the desires and needs of its inhabitants who have diverse characteristics and life cycles. The city of Depok is a suburb of the metropolitan Jakarta, which from the beginning was designated as a dormitory city for the people of Jakarta. This caused many residents including young families to move as commuters. The study uses mixed methods with samples taken accidental at the location of the commuter station and residential environment by collecting data in questionnaires and interviews. Who wants a home location that is close to public transportation, child-friendly, and very much depends on the price of the house. The difference between the life cycle that is the desire for environment preferences, safety and having a high desire to move from their current place of residence to the place of residence they want to fulfill the family life cycle. This can be input for the government, especially the Government of Depok City and developers in planning housing considering the family life cycle in order to improve the quality of life.

The increasing number of population and urbanization in the city of Jakarta has led to greater land requirements for housing and settlements. Meanwhile, the amount of available land is increasingly limited with higher prices. Construction of simple rental flats (Rusunawa), especially for low-income communities, is one of the housing provision policies by the Provincial Government of Capital Special Region of Jakarta. The development of Rusunawa is expected to improve the quality of settlements. The better quality of the housing environment is expected to improve the health of the Rusunawa residents. This research was conducted in Rusunawa Jatinegara Barat. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the physical environmental conditions of Rusunawa Jatinegara Barat on health. The research approach used is a cross-sectional method. Primary data was obtained from questionnaires distributed to 225 families living in Rusunawa Jatinegara Barat. The selection of respondents was done by using proportional random sampling. The variables examined include physical environmental conditions (independent variables) and occupant health (dependent variables). Data is processed using statistical programs. The results showed that there was no improvement in the health of residents of Rusunawa Jatinegara Barat.

This paper dealt with an attemp to overcome dust problem to improve health in working area. Dust are side product of machining process in jewellery master machining using CNC. Resin material is showing good performance to be used as jewellery master material. Its machineability resulting high quality surface when machined using CNC. Unfortunately, its small size and light density resulting very light tiny dust that able to pass-through the vaccuun cleaners filter. Moreover those dust are fly to anywhere and makes working area become dirty and severe for respiratory problem. In this paper, cyclone method is discussed to trap dust into chambers. Multiple cyclones is used to increase efficiency of filtering mechanism. As a result an alternative filter is introduced but it can only reduce about 60% of dust.

Multi-function tool is one of the solutions offered to solve the recent problems of human beings, especially in health and water supply problem. A static bike was one of the fitness equipment resulting in wasted power. In this work, the power of static bike was proposed to drive peristaltic pump which complies water supply for human beings. The peristaltic pump was chosen due to its simple construction and its low torsion requirement to transport water with the height of five meters. The proposed equipment was constructed by the components which were easy to find. It was examined by comparing the time whether hand and static bike driver. The experimental results showed that the proposed equipment which integrating the function of the peristaltic pump and static bike produced multi-function tool which was versatile to do the daily sport of human beings.

An interactive two-stage fractile optimization (ITFO) model is applied to a case study of agricultural irrigation systems in Sanjiang Plain. The advantages of ITFO are as follows: (1) ITFO can reflect the uncertainties and complexes of agricultural irrigation systems, and deal with dual uncertainties expressed as interval fuzzy numbers and stochastic distributions; (2) The optimal water-allocation strategies for agricultural irrigation systems under different feasibilities and fractile values can be generated through ITFO in order to reflect the preference to the system cost; (3) ITFO combines objectivity of mathematical programming method and subjectivity of human beings into a framework which can increase the applicability. ITFO could provide feasible schemes for decision makers to support the rational development and utilization for agricultural irrigation systems in Sanjiang Plain.

The paper simulate the traditional and the new technologies of carbon capture on the basis of the 330 MW power plant unit by using Aspen plus. Meanwhile, by checking linear relationship between load and steam flow rate, the model of the unit steam cycle is set up, verifying the accuracy of the model. And put the two kinds of process equipment into the unit steam cycle, to analyze the factors affecting the steam cycle of the two technologies. The main conclusions are drawn as follows: The new technology has lower heat consumption than the traditional technology as well as the extent of the impact of the unit output power. So the new technology has advantages on energy saving. Also, the study of the characteristics of the integrated system is conducted, obtaining that it has different impacts on the unit output power when extracting from different steam turbine pressure ports to heat the carbon capture system, which will give a reference for units operation with the new carbon capture system.

Urbanization is proceeding rapidly in several developing countries, such as China. The accelerating urbanization causes not only the expansion of the city scale and space but also creates changes to the internal spatial structure, especially the separation of job-housing spaces and increased commuting time. Reasonable urban space organization is necessary because it can both optimize the structure of urban multicenter groups and reduce residents' need to drive, which lessens traffic congestion, improves the accessibility of public facilities, reduces environmental pollution and promotes the sustainable development of the city. Based on the spatial complexity and development uncertainty of megacities, this paper establishes an evaluation method for the job-housing spaces of megacities on different scales by using traditional statistical data, survey data and big data from multisource data integration to guide urban development and formulate urban policy on the macro level and to understand the relationship of urban space and the relationship between humans and land on the micro level, which may provide the basis for intelligent and refined management of the city. The comparison of multisource data integration and evaluation results from different scales provide a more comprehensive and reasonable reference for the management of megacities.

In view of the ecological environental problems and protection needs of mountainous rivers in Zhejiang province, a suitable ecological water demand evaluation system was established based on investigation and monitoring. Taking the Kaihua river as an example, the research on ecological water demand and the current situation evaluation were carried out. The main types of ecological water demand in Majin River are ecological basic flow and lake wetland outside the river, and instream flow and water demands for water quality in Zhongcun river. In the wet season each ecological water demand is 18.05m³/s and 2.56m³/s, and in the dry season is 3.00m³/s and 0.61m³/s. Three indexes of flow, duration and occurrence time are used to evaluate the ecological water demand. The degree of ecological water demand in the past three years is low level of satisfaction. Meanwhile the existing problems are analyzed, put forward reasonable measure and suggestions.

West Lake is a world-famous landscape in Hangzhou, listed on the World Heritage list. In 2003, Hangzhou municipal government implemented the project of water diversion project, which diverted 400,000t/d water from Qiantang River into West Lake, thus, improved the overall water quality of West Lake significantly. However, due to the zigzag lakeshore line and the inlake embankment separation, the diverted water could not fully exchange among different regions of the lake, therefore, high concentration region of nutrient and cyanobacteria outbreak risk still existed in some lake bays. On the basis of spatial water quality analysis, this study put forward the internal water diversion and distribution scheme of the West Lake. Total phosphorus (TP) model with Environmental Fluid Dynamic Code (EFDC) was built to study the optimum water diversion quantity and distribution layout. According to the numerical result, the recommended water diversion scale was 70,000t/d, the layout of diversion and distribution recommended was "2 in 3 out". The internal water diversion and distribution project was complemented in October 2015. According to the comparison of water quality before and after the project construction, the improvement rates of TP, TN and Chlorophyll A were 26.0%, 8.9% and 25.9% respectively, and the dead water area was reduced from 35% to 13%, which greatly improved the water environment of the water diversion area.

This article deals with the determination of tube electric heater for a distillation desalination plant. Tube electric heater is required for the distillation process because it prepares input water for the working process on the start regime of the desalination plant. Depending on its power, a time consumed for start regime will vary. Meanwhile, technical requirements for distillation desalination plants with mechanical vapor compression demands that plant must reach design operational regime within a certain time limit. Correspondingly, selection of the power for tube electric heater became an important task during distillation desalination plant designing. Amount of energy, which is necessary to add during heating, depends on the amount of water inside, mass-dimensional characteristics of the desalination plant and heat transfer with the environment. Algorithm for power selection is developed. This model allows determining the time required for the plant to reach a design operation regime. This time varies dependently on the power of the heater. Both analytical and numerical models of this dependencies were developed. A numerical model was used utilized to estimate the influence of the heat exchange with the environment on starting operation time. For the described plant, required power of TEH is equal to 24 kW.

The article deals with the problem of the shortage of fresh water and the desalination of sea water as one of the promising options for its solution. For the Crimean region the issue of desalination is the most urgent, taking into account its geographical peculiarities. The chemical composition and thermophysical properties of the Black Sea waters are presented. The technological scheme of the station for the preparation of drinking water from the waters of the Black Sea by the method of distillation desalination is presented and considered in detail. To ensure the manufacturability water must comply with the following requirements: the boundaries of the zones of the sanitary protection of water intake should be at least 200 m in all directions of the waters; water intake facilities should be equipped with a mesh filter to capture floating algae, water intake should include water treatment with biocidal agents (chlorine, copper sulphate etc.) with a view to their destruction and subsequent deposition, introduction of water in the chalk priming (with the value of the fraction 10-40 MK) at the rate of 8-15 kg/m3 apresentamos water, polyphosphates up to 10 g/m3 of sulfuric acid 150 g/m3, organic antiscales "Belgard EV" or PAF-13A - 10 g/m3; water should be subjected to deaeration. A water clarification station is necessary, as the evaporation plant should be feeding clarified water, containing dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide, and not prone to scaling. Under the clarification of water, in the general sense, is understood the removal from it of suspended particles of organic and inorganic origin. The need for biocidal and antiscaling treatment is determined by experimental testing, but a good installation of clarification of sea water significantly reduces the need for this step.

The problem of fresh water lack can be solved my desalination of the seawater. Desalination of the seawater can be accomplished by several methods. Distillation of the seawater is one of the most promising among them. This article deals with algorithm of distillation plant parameters selection based on "mass flow rate-enthalpy" diagram. This diagram allows to estimate operation of the plant by several criteria such as energy efficiency, real distillation plant output, steam compressor and evaporator efficiency. Criterion of optimal coordination of Steam Compressor (SC) and Evaporator-Condenser (EC) characteristics is minimal distance between point which is characteristics of SC and line - characteristics of EC. Diagram shows an example of coordination of two SC with different productivity with characteristics of one EC. Location of these SC characteristics as a points 2a and 2b on the line which is characteristics of EC means perfect example of coordination when potentials of SC and EC productivities are fully utilized. Diagram confirms linear increase of the total energy cost and quadratic increase of the required power of SC if productivity is necessary to increase at constant EC heat exchange area. Besides, considering bended characteristics of EC, it is possible to note higher energy efficiency of distillation plant at higher temperatures Analysis shows that distillation plant with consecutive evaporation of initial water provides optimal value of specific work spent for compression and consecutive connection of stages by steam have the worst value of work spent for compression.

The article deals with the problem of choosing the optimum desalination system for seawater for the Crimean region. Criteria are proposed for choosing the optimal method of desalination - "study and reliability", "geographic", "industrial application", "economic", "electricity consumption", "environmental safety" and others. Criterion "study and authenticity" means that the method must be well studied and applied in practice (therefore, the methods of desalination not introduced in production are not accepted). Criterion "geographical" takes into account the climatic features of the regions. Criterion "industrial application" analyses the industrial application of the method. The criterion of "economic" takes into account the costs of water preparation, reagents, additional treatment facilities and the like. The criterion of "limitation" takes into account the limitation of the initial level of salt content of the cultivated water for desalination. The criterion of "temporal" takes into account the period of possible operation of desalination plants. The criterion of "electricity consumption" takes into account the energy consumption for desalination of sea water. Criterion of "ecological safety" takes into account the physicochemical properties of water after desalination. Based on these criteria, a choice of 12 alternatives was made. It was found out that the most suitable method of desalination in this region is vacuum distillation.

The aim of this work is an experimental verification of the basic operations of a contactless radio wave method for determining the technical state of gears. To implement this goal, a specially developed experimental device is used. It uses generators with frequencies of 12 GHz and 32 GHz to obtain microwave sounding radiation. The excited electromagnetic oscillations of the microwave range are channeled by means of a circulator into the path of the primary converter. It is made in the form of a circular waveguide. Non-contact radiowave method of gear working condition control is developed. This method is based on the online treatment of the signals received after detecting probing radiation of microwave range deflected from gear teeth. Dependencies of signal amplitude on distance between face of the emitting waveguide and controlled surface, received by experimental way, are presented. These dependencies was approximated. Depending on which primary transducer is to be simulated and to which of the two ranges the length of the path traversed by the reflected beam falls, one of the four dependencies is selected, which calculates the weighting factor for the specific reflected beam. As a result, the developed control system of the gears of the multipliers will allow obtaining up-to-date information on the state of the gears during the operation of the desalination plant. This in turn will reduce the probability of failure of this mechanical system and will allow you to derive an economic benefit from its use.

Distillation of the seawater is one of the most promising among them. Comparative analysis of distillation desalination plant requires certain criteria. This criterion must take into account both energy consumption and seawater salinity. Relation of the minimal work required for seawater desalination to energy consumption was selected as such criterion. Four types of the distillation plants were considered: Multi-effect distillation plants (MED), multi-effect distillation plants with mechanical vapor compression (MVC) plants, MVC desalination plants have the best multi-effect distillation plant with thermal vapor compression (TVC) plants and Multistage flash distillation plants (MSF). MSF plants gave dependency that their efficiency rise along the gain ratio. That may be explained by the fact that its steam consumption does not depend on seawater consumption. TVC plants have slightly higher efficiency than MED plants. Thus, MVC plants can be recommended to use if there is no heat source, MSF plants - if there is heat source and plant must have a high gain ratio and TVC plant in the rest cases.

A new method is considered for contactless determination of the profile and curvature of the blades of the desalination plant steam generator at the stage of technological preparation and the general technology of blade manufacture. The geometry of the blades is controlled by processing the probing light flux reflected from the monitored surface, received by the scanning optical nozzle and converted into an electrical information pulse. The time interval between the information and reference pulses corresponds to the angular position of the probe flow, when it has a perpendicular direction to a particular point of the controlled curvilinear surface. The angle found serves as the basis for determining the derivative in the profile function at this monitored point. Thus, to estimate the curvature, the change in the velocity characteristics of the geometric profile function of the blade is used.

The efficiency of the wastewater treatment is highly influenced by the characteristics of incoming raw wastewater into the treatment plant. The improper design resulted in inefficient treatment, of which consequently leading to the pollution and contaminant release to nearby water streams. High concentration of untreated or inefficiently treated effluent poses significant impacts to the health of both human and aquatic life. Wastewater characteristics based on real-time monitoring measurement in a catchment area, in particular at the inlet chamber of a sewage treatment plant (STP) not only provides precise data and information of pollutant loading behavior but also hypothesis the lifestyle and waste habit in the specific locations. In this research, the parameters of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Ammonia Nitrogen (NH₃-N) incoming raw wastewater samples were temporally monitored. The measurement campaign was conducted at two locations, at a Network Pumping Station (NPS) and connected STP with Population Equivalent (PE) of 1000 and 60000, respectively. The temporal variation for COD shows a regular pattern with distinct peaks, i.e., at morning and evening were identified. However, no temporal variation was observed for parameter NH₃-N. The strength of the wastewater influent has a fairly low concentration of COD between 57 mg/L to 313 mg/L at NPS and 117 mg/L to 612 mg/L at STP. This value is lower than the commonly influent designed STP of COD concentration at 500 mg/L (Malaysian Sewerage Industry Guidelines (MSIG), Volume IV, Section 3). Comparison of wastewater pattern with temperate climate of South Korea showed a discrepancy in terms of peak time and concentration pattern.

The article considers the stages of preparation of distillate, obtained after desalination of sea water, for drinking purposes. The main criteria for assessing the quality of drinking desalinated water are identified. Technological, hygienic, epidemiological, sanitary-epidemiological requirements for the preparation of drinking water are considered, according to the current regulatory documents. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of environmental problems associated with the use of desalination complexes. Today, the growing need for water sources is considered a key element of sustainable development and possible solutions to this integral problem can be found only by rational integration and implementation of new industrial, economic, environmental and social policies. The decision about the large-scale construction of desalination plants in Crimea must be taken after all the required studies and experimental tests have been carried out and also by taking into account the experience of the advanced countries for desalination of sea water all over the world.
