COVID-19 Update: IMET 2020 to go virtual.

As you know by now, agencies around the world are now issuing restrictions on travel, gatherings, and meetings in an effort to limit and slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The health and safety of our participants and members of our research community is of top priority to the IMET 2020 Organizing Committee.

All IMET 2020 accepted papers have been presented virtually during the conference week of November 24–26, 2020. We purchased a third-party professional online meeting service, so the meeting is very good in terms of picture quality and actual hosting effect. During the actual presentations on November 24–26, 2020, Talks have been pre-recorded and submitted as MP4 video files to be replayed during the conference at least one author has be available online after their videos are played to answer Q&A from conference participants moderated by the respective Session Chairs.

A cylindrical equidistant helix antenna has been created. The helix geometry of the antenna determined its central frequency of the operating band, equal to 1 GHz. This frequency corresponds to the maximum spectra of a bipolar voltage pulse with duration of 1 ns. Helixes identical to those of a single antenna were used in horizontal four-element linear arrays. Antenna arrays with different periods of d were studied in the axial mode with simultaneous excitation of elements by a bipolar voltage pulse of 1 ns duration and in the mode of scanning at a fixed angle in the horizontal plane. Experimental measurements were carried out in the frequency and time domains.

The main characteristics of the TEM antenna and the combined antenna (KA) with extended bandwidth are compared using numerical simulation. The influence of the high-voltage coaxial-strip junction on the KA characteristics is shown. The effective radiation potential is compared relative to the utmost one for high-power UWB radiation sources based on KA arrays, as well as single IRA, HIRA, TEM, and KA antennas.

The characteristics of ultrawideband antenna arrays, the element of which is a planar combined antenna with an operating frequency band of 3.1-10.6 GHz, are studied. The results of time-domain studies for a four-element linear array, as well as for a dual polarized module consisting of 2×2 antennas, are presented. The antenna array element is a combination of electric and magnetic radiators. The combined antenna is printed on a dielectric plate with a size of 20×30 mm.

In this article, we consider a system for wireless data transmission via visible light. An experimental stand for temperature control is presented. Transmitting and receiving devices have been developed to organize traffic. A digital temperature sensor is connected to the transmitter. The transmitting device has a white light-emitting diode (LED) with a power of 3W, which performs the function of lighting and additionally transmits temperature data. A silicon photodetector is used to receive the signal. Data is controlled and processed by Atmega 328 microcontrollers, which are located in both devices. The signal is encoded using the Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter (UART) protocol. Experimental results of the system operation are presented, which show stable data transmission over a long period of time.

This article deals with the problem of ensuring protection of limited access objects and other objects of state significance from unauthorized access. There is given the analysis of systems already developed by Russian and foreign scientists. A passive perimeter security system is proposed for consideration the main element of which is an optical fiber. The measurement principle is based on controlling the magnitude of the additional dissipation losses under mechanical action measured in dB. There have been carried out field experiments using the proposed security system. In conclusion there are describes the results of the study using a reflectometer.

The article presents some results of studying the most optimal parameters of the displacer and the piston of a low-temperature engine with external heat supply to increase its efficiency when converting low-grade heat. The developed design of the engine does not have a displacer rod, which provides better sealing and reduces mechanical friction losses. Synchronization of the piston and the displacer movement is ensured by the permanent magnets interaction. The analysis of the results of computer simulation of the PV diagram with an increased diameter of the displacer in relation to the piston diameter plays a positive role in increasing the efficiency and power of the engine. Increasing the diameter of the displacer also leads to increasing the area of the PV diagram and its approach to the ideal thermal Stirling cycle. The simulation results show that increasing the diameter of the displacer above 17/1 does not lead to increasing the area of the PV diagram, and with a larger ratio, on the contrary, it reduces the parameters of the engine efficiency. Further increasing the diameter of the displacer is not advisable in terms of technical and economic ratios. The proposed engine with external heat supply is capable of converting heat from geothermal or industrial wastewater, as well as heated water using a solar collector.

This article addresses the problem of ensuring high reliability and safety performance of freight elevators. Rope elevator hoists exist more than one hundred years and have become very common, but it is very difficult to achieve their operational efficiency. The authors propose a solution to the problem - the introduction of a fundamentally new type of transport - pneumatic lifting, which capable provides high technical and economic performance. At the specialized enterprise «Pnevmopod"yem» a small-lot manufacture of new import-substituting equipment for hoisting in building sestablished. The authors present the advantages and the principle of operation of the developed pneumatic elevator. Essential advantage of this machine is the safe work which is incorporated in its design. Considerable attention is paid to the results of tests of cargo pneumatic elevator. The authors come to the conclusion that the design of a freight pneumatic elevator makes it possible to use it successfully for transporting cargo in buildings and structures for various purposes, to reduce capital investments in construction, installation and operating costs. The absence of foreign analogs will allow selling pneumatic lifts not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the countries of the former USSR.

The generalized computational model for calculation of complex technical object parameters when solving the problem of monitoring and their functioning control has been realized. The model has the following features: realization in the context of calculations of subdefinite expansion of parameters values based on assignment function and availability of consideration objects structural dynamics

Detecting pattern in images plays a huge role in the field of computer vision. The article summarizes methods for detecting patterns by their properties, such as colours, shapes in images. And with video, the detection of patterns is also based on their movement. Human face recognition problem is also mentioned in the application of MTCNN network architecture and reconfiguring FaceNet to suit actual requirements. Test results are given and recommendations with data and program operating conditions are provided for the reference.

There are proposed the kinematic schemes of two-channel conveyor belt weighers which allow minimizing the errors of the verification using the reference weight without stoppage of the production process. There are presented two options of calculation of the reference weight mass simulating the bulk material taking into account the systematic and additional error of the conveyor belt weighers.

Built the quantum-mechanical scheme for investigating the spectrum of thermally stimulated currents of depolarization (TCDP), which allows to study the processes of relaxation of hetero-and homo-charge in hydrogen bonded crystals (HBC) with complex crystalline structure (layered silicates, crystal-hydrates), taking into account the distribution of relaxers (protons) over the energy levels of the quasi-discrete spectrum in potential image of the crystal lattice, and allows us to calculate the parameters of low-temperature relaxers by the Klinger method in the quadratic approximation over the external electric field. However, the calculation of the excess proton concentration operator was carried out in the quasi-classical approximation on the basis of the Fokker-Planck operator equation, which is solved together with the Poisson operator equation. By method of density matrix in the quadratic approximation in the external field calculated thermally stimulated depolarization currents on the basis of which the investigated size effects in the nanometer size layers associated with the shift of the maximum current of thermo-depolarization to low temperatures while reducing the thickness of the crystal layer.

This work is devoted to the study of technologies for creating a method for non-invasive measurement of glucose in human blood. A brief overview is given on some of the existing technologies and developments in the field of the radio range for electromagnetic radiation and for recording small changes in the dielectric properties of biological environment. It also presents a new technology for non-contact measurement of blood glucose concentration in phantom blood using magnetic field sensors.

There is an urgent need to conduct a survey of areas exposed to chemical and radioactive contamination, assess the level of risk in these areas, and work on cleansing them of their remnants. Hence the need for advanced robots arises, where they should be capable of carrying out all hard tasks in different environments in all weather conditions and around the clock. In this article, we detail the components of an advanced device that consists of a robot capable of terrestrial-aerial movement and wirelessly connected with computerized workstations. Here we show the multiple advantages that the robot has compared to other previous models. We pay special attention to the technical vision system in the robot, and offer some proposals for the purpose of developing this system.

This paper describes the development of an autonomous robotic platform capable of undertaking rescue missions on rough terrain and other unpredictable environments. The key difference of this platform is the lack of LIDAR system and an algorithm that relies primarily on ultrasonic and optical sensors. As a result, two platforms were created, a fully autonomous drone and a scout bot that operate effectively together.

The article deals with the critical multi-processor systems, which can include high-availability objects, and which performance is critical for any kind of activity. Such as a person, country, company, organization, etc. In this case, failure leads to a reduction in the system's response time and a further decrease in its performance, which means the availability factor. Thus, the usage of software solutions to this issue is unacceptable, and therefore it is necessary to use specialized hardware for load planning.

Research on fiber-optic displacement sensors in quarries is the main cause of the collapse of the sides of the quarry. To ensure safety and constant monitoring during the work at the quarry, sharpened fiber-optic sensors are used. Fiber-optic sensors and control cables of the communication line are made on the basis of single-mode optical fibers, which makes it possible to measure deformations and displacements of the mountain range at distances of 30-50 km with high accuracy. Optical fiber of the ITU-T G. 652.D standard is used to create fiber-optic pressure sensors (FOS). All tests were carried out in the laboratory. This article is a sample for studying the entire process of deformation and displacement of the mountain range. In the end, the results of the study will help to optimize the work at the quarry and prevent accidents

Methods of continuum mechanics and equilibrium thermodynamics are used to study a generalized physical and mathematical model of the processes of a working substance (steam, gas) moving in the flow part of an axial turbine stage in the nominal operating mode of the turbine. The mathematical description of the hydrodynamics and thermodynamics of the process is carried out for a one-dimensional model, based on the energy equation in thermomechanical form (the first law of thermodynamics in combination with the Bernoulli equation) for the gas (or steam) flow during its adiabatic (isentropic) expansion in the direction of the axis of the turbine stage. The energy equation is written taking into account both thermodynamic (due to the thermal movement of particles) and hydraulic pressure forces (due to the mechanical action of a continuous medium) of the working substance flow on the walls of the stage flow channel. Numerical calculation of flow rates and enthalpy losses on various elements of the stage (nozzle and working blades) is performed on the example of a model turbine with eight axial-type stages, under specified initial conditions of the process.

In this article, modern principles of processing and working with images have been investigated and applied for specific tasks of character information recognition in conditions of small character size and image fuzzy due to chromatic aberrations, including non-fuzzy C-means, which have proven themselves with high accuracy and speed. processing of initial data. For ease of perception and a more understandable process, we conditionally divide the algorithm into several stages: image improvement and filtering in order to bring data to the optimal information load of the algorithm by suppressing non-maximum points; correction of intensity values according to the level of grayscale pixels; processing of the region of the image with symbolic information by distributing gray tones.

The problem of mathematical modeling of a reinforced concrete supports mechanical vibrations is considered. The basic vibrations of the main structural element (a road) are taken into account. The eigenfrequencies of the first three vibration modes of the rod are determined without and with prestressing of the rod. Participation factor of the basic, second and third modes is investigated.

This article discusses the adaptation of the algorithm for constructing the optimal trajectory A * to three-dimensional space, as well as computer modeling of this algorithm in the MatLab environment and the analysis of the results.

In this work we determines electron density using data obtained via CT scanner with one radiation source operating in two modes: with 80 kV and 120 kV voltage. We perform tomography study of calibration phantom with predetermined electron densities. Single linear relationship between energy-subtracted Hounsfield unit and relative electron density is determined. Using determined relationship the relative electron densities of phantom calibration samples is calculated. The comparison of calculated and nominal values proves the possibility of the samples relative electron density determination using energy-subtracted Hounsfield unit with error less than 2%.

The paper presents the circuitry solutions on the basis of which a precision programmable DC power supply was created and tested. The principle of operation of the DC power supply uses a high-precision method of controlling a pulse current stabilizer, based on the adaptation of the duty cycle of the pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal to control the inverter when the load mode changes. From the output of the inverter, the signal is converted by the rectifier into a DC signal with subsequent smoothing of the ripple and enters the load circuit. From a precision low-resistance shunt connected to the load circuit, the signal through the ADC in digital form enters the control unit (CU), implemented on the basis of FPGA, which has a embedded programme for controlling the voltage / current stabilization modes in the load circuit. In addition, the paper shows the use of a precision programmable DC power supply for solving the problem of calibrating the BTC-110S spectrometer. The block diagram of the test stand for spectrometer calibration is presented and relations for the correction of the recorded signals of the thermal radiation spectrum of the objects under study are derived.

This paper describes two methods, the amplitude method and the method based on geometric optics. The methods were applied to practical data obtained by georadar tests. As a result, the refractive index and thickness of the investigated planar layered medium were calculated. When using the amplitude method, the refractive index of the investigated medium is 1.3, the thickness is 0.11 m. When using the method based on geometric optics, the refractive index of the investigated medium is 1.43, the thickness is 0.102 m. After comparing the results of these methods, it was found that the error of the amplitude method is higher than that of the geometrical optics method.

Here we present results of the statistical study of the accuracy of the local optical positioning system for the industrial GPR OKO-2. The results of measurement are forming a statistical set. The statistical set should verify the accuracy LPS. The proposed LPS uses special tapes with a special periodic pattern as a reference object. The video camera records the image of the marker tapes, was located on a fast mechanical scanner. The scanner produced an accurate movement of the camera perpendicular to the tape. During the moving process, LPS measures the distance between the camera and tape and compared it with the scanner data.

Radio wave tomography (radiotommography) allows restoring the shape of objects hidden behind radio-transparent barriers. Radiotommography detectors use this technology for location and visualization for metal, metalized, and dielectric communications in walls and floors. An interpretation of tomography images obtained during radio wave measuring is a difficult task for non-specialists. Moreover, they have no visual reference to the objects of the scene under exploration. To simplify a perception and analysis of the obtained data of radio wave measurements, we propose to combine digital radio and optical images of the scene. This article describes the solution to the problem of combining optical and radio wave images. It allows to estimate visually the size and position of the hidden objects.
