Abstract

Electro-optic effects in newly synthesized ferroelectric liquid crystals (2S,3S)-3-methyl-2-halopentanoic acid 4',4''-alkoxybiphenyl ester have been studied and it is clarified that these materials demonstrate low threshold fields and high response speeds of electro-optic effects corresponding to their large spontaneous polarization.
