Abstract
The 1993 Nobel Prize for Physics has been awarded to Russell Hulse and Joseph Taylor of Princeton University, New Jersey, for their discovery of binary pulsars and confirmation of Einstein's prediction of gravitational radiation. The discovery was made at the 300 m radio-telescope at Arecibo, Puerto Rico, in 1974 when the 24-year-old Hulse was Taylor's graduate student at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
