Abstract

Can it really be a year since the last Physics World Christmas crossword? Apparently so. As usual, most of the clues are based on physics and many have a historical flavour. The lucky winner will receive a prize of £50 and a copy of The Hundred Greatest Stars by James Kaler – perfect for anyone who likes getting their telescope out (see review in October pp44–45). Second prize is a copy of John Charap's Explaining the Universe, which claims to offer "a panoramic view of the physicist's world as the 21st century opens". Send your crossword solutions by email to pwld@iop.org, by fax to +44 117 925 1942 or by post to Physics World, Dirac House, Temple Back, Bristol BS1 6BE, UK, to arrive no later than Monday 13 January 2003. The crossword was compiled by Richard Palmer, an editor at Institute of Physics Publishing.
