Abstract
The article substantiates the role of functional zoning of urbanized territories as a tool for analyzing the anthropogenic impact on natural landscapes, assessing the availability of socio-economic infrastructure, geo-environmental safety and rational use of natural and historical and cultural heritage sites. The conceptual and terminological base of research in domestic and foreign literature is disclosed. The features of the development of the territory of the city of Grozny over the past 30 years have been studied and cartographically visualized using the method of interpretation of space images. Correlations of various functional zones within the city territory are revealed. Recommendations have been developed for optimizing their correlation from geoecological positions for a more sustainable (balanced) development of the urban geosystem, improving the medical and environmental situation, creating comfortable conditions for the life and activities of citizens.
