Synopsis

Femtosecond laser ablation of cryogenically solidified CH4 using a peak intensity 8×1014 W/cm2 at 800 nm has been studied using time of flight mass spectroscopy. Spectra show the presence of hydrocarbon species with molecular mass higher than the original target molecule.
