Abstract
The DIAL hygrometer described integrates independent optical channels of high-power broad-line laser diodes of different wavelengths. A cascade collimator is developed based on tapered optical fibers of decreasing apertures, which ensures a minimal divergence of the laser beam for maximal discrimination of the background light. Effective twenty-four-hour DIAL profiling of humidity along a path of up to 3 km at a resolution of 2 gm-3 is targeted.
