Abstract
Sliding electrical contacts play a crucial role in the reliability and life of a multitude of components in communications and power systems and yet they are all too often taken completely for granted. The research and development effort devoted to contacts is seldom more than a minute fraction of the total involved in the construction of a novel device or system.
