Abstract
Mr. Delves (April Bulletin), I fear, has over-simplified the reasons for the proliferation of scientific journals. The pressure on the available space of reputed journals, the understandable anxiety of an author to establish a priority, the possible evaluation of scientists in certain countries on the basis of the number of papers to their credit, etc., may all contribute to an increase in the number of journals.
