Linking information

You can link to content on IOPscience in a number of ways.

DOI

IOP Publishing is a member of Crossref and assigns a Crossref DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to all articles published. These provide a persistent link to the publisher-held version of an article. DOIs are published on the abstract pages in IOPscience and the PDF.

Please use the DOIs assigned to link to articles.

STACKS

You can link to the journal, volume or issue level on IOPscience through a simple, consistent interface. Please see the STACKS page for further details.

OpenURL

IOP Publishing supports the OpenURL standard, allowing context-sensitive linking and the direction of readers to the appropriate resource. To activate SFX or a similar OpenURL link resolver on IOPscience, please contact custserv@iop.org.

KBART

Details of journals hosted by IOP Publishing are available in tab-separated KBART format as defined in the KBART Phase I Recommended Practice. To provide feedback on the IOP KBART report please contact custserv@iop.org.

Download the latest KBART report here.

Link updates

Regular updates of links to our content are available via the STACKS alerting service. As new articles are published, metadata are sent automatically via email, including the article DOIs and preformatted STACKS links direct to the article. Please contact Mike Roberts at michael.roberts@iop.org with details of your requirements if you wish to subscribe to this metadata feed.

Linking out to other online services

Reference lists in IOPscience include links to external sources wherever possible, helping readers to explore the scientific literature and find relevant papers. Links are provided to the original published article via Crossref DOIs and to relevant records in PubMed and the NASA Astrophysical Data System, where available. Access to linked documents is subject to your subscription status.

The 'Cited by' tab lists articles citing the research currently being viewed. This information is retrieved from the Crossref database, the NASA Astrophysical Data System and our own publications, and is designed to help readers track the impact of a research article post-publication. Links to these articles are provided alongside the citation information.

Article pages on IOPscience include a number of citation export and social bookmarking options. Users can export citations directly to CiteUlike, Connotea or Bibsonomy via convenient links. The link to AddThis allows users to bookmark and share articles via hundreds of social media services, including Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and many more.
