Abstract

I usually don't reply to reviews of my books, but I'm making an exception for Joseph Ford's review of Does God Play Dice? (Physics World October 1989 p39). He dislikes my colloquial style and questions its match with my intended audience. In my defence I'd just like to say that the book was its publisher's best-seller for 1989 (ahead of such bodice-ripping titles as Adultery). It will be available as a Penguin paperback from April 1990, so that interested-readers of Physics World will be able to judge the style for themselves without imposing undue strain on their finances.
