The technical program comprised four keynote speakers, fifty invited speakers, five oral presentation sessions and an interesting poster session.

Water resource and environment are key elements guaranteeing the sustainability of societies. WRE 2017 aimed to provide an academic platform for researchers and scholars to present and discuss their latest findings about water resource and environment. It gathered over 140 participants from 30 different countries. The main subjects of the conference were "Water Resources and Hydrology", "Water Quality and Environment Science", "Water, Climate and Ecological Environment", "Water Pollution and Wastewater Treatment" and "Soil, Groundwater and Hydrology".

This volume records the proceedings of WRE 2017 and contains 93 rigorously selected manuscripts submitted to the WRE 2017 conference. All the manuscripts were selected depending on their quality and relevance to the conference.

The Organizing Committee would like to thank all the authors who contributed to WRE 2017 and also the reviewers who provided their valuable comments and suggestions.
