Abstract

Assalamu Alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

It is our delight that the proceedings of the 3rd International Symposium on Marine and Fisheries (ISMF3) are now published in the IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science (EES). Papers presented in these proceedings have been selected tightly. They went through a rigorous peer-reviewed process by conference committee members and reputable international reviewers to ensure their compliance to meet the required standard for qualified scientific publications.

Papers in this proceedings cover various topics including aquatic biodiversity, ecology, and conservation, oceanographic, marine and fisheries biotechnology, sustainable aquaculture, sustainable fisheries, fisheries processing technology, and food safety, marine and fisheries socio-economics and culture, marine ecotourism, marine fisheries law and development policy, marine and fisheries geographical information system (GIS), maritime technology, aquatic pollution and ecotoxicology, and marine and fisheries community service and food security. All of these topics are related to this year's symposium's theme, "Strengthening Innovations for the Management of Aquatic Resources."

With this theme, the symposium was intended to support efforts to accelerate the Indonesian Marine and Fisheries Industrialization that requires various innovations and technologies, especially in increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian fishery products at the global level. It also can contribute to improving the competitiveness of the Indonesian people going forward. We expect that by gathering people from many institutions, this symposium not only resulting in new concepts but also building and strengthening the cooperation of various parties in advancing Indonesia as a maritime country. It is for the realization of a sovereign, prosperous, just, and respected nation of the world and sustainable development.

I want to thank all the authors who have contributed their papers for these proceedings. We hope that these proceedings will contribute to the body of publicly available scientific knowledge and the achievement of individual, institutional, and national publication targets.

Also, I thank all sponsors, organizing committee for their hard work and enthusiasm, and to all who contributed or took part in any capacity, which made the event a success.
