Abstract

The immersion method of measuring electric permittivities has been used to obtain the following values for the principal permittivities of crystalline anthracene: epsilonxx=2·42±0·05, epsilonyy=2·90±0·05 and epsilonzz=4·07±0·05. Values for the effective molecular polarizability components of anthracene in the crystal are derived from the permittivity measurements.
