Part of 1st International Conference on Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGD2009)

Three-dimensional electrostatic field configurations of several micromesh-based detectors have been estimated using the recently developed neBEM field solver. We have tried to estimate accurately, the field uniformity / distortion due to changes in the geometrical parameters of the mesh and also due to the changes in the detector configuration. In addition, the effect of the drift volume settings on the configuration of the drift field has also been estimated. The effect of these parameters on the electrostatic configuration and hence, on the performance of the detectors, are discussed in the paper.
