Show affiliationsWe here provide details on the numerical study of the gravitational-wave emission from the gravitational collapse to black holes of rotating neutron stars in three dimensions. More specifically, we concentrate on the use of mesh-refined grids, either fixed or progressive, as well as on the use of the excision techniques and of the advantages that result when this is not employed.
