Show affiliationsThe image of a lunar corona recorded in 1979 is examined in detail. It is noticed that the profile is non-circular, the width of the coloured ring is almost independent of the angular distance from the moon, and an outer structure of fine rings is appearing. Such features are atypical for lunar coronas, and have never been reported so far; approaches to interpretation are briefly discussed.
