In this paper, we present an acousto-optic separator of polarization based an a double anisotropic interaction taking place with a monofrequency acoustic shear wave. The basic principle is given starting from the wavevectors diagram. The practical design considerations of a paratellurite separator are then discussed. Experimental validations are reported for a monochromatic light beam of arbitrary rectilinear polarization. The acousto-optic separator has been inserted into the modulation line of a stereoscopic laser videoprojector in order to provide dynamic control of the phenomenon of ghost images.
