Part of Focus on Cloaking and Transformation Optics

Plasmonic metamaterials provide a convenient experimental platform for demonstration of principles of transformational optics. In this paper, negative index imaging and guiding of surface waves using layered plasmonic metamaterials has been demonstrated. Imaging experiments have been compared with numerical simulations. In addition, a two-dimensional ε near zero metamaterial has been realized.
