Special issue on Micromechanics: selected papers from MMM2010
This special issue contains a selection of papers presented at the Micromechanics minisymposium within the 5th Multiscale Materials Modeling (MMM2010) Conference held in Freiburg, Germany, 4–8 October 2010. These papers reflect the state-of-the-art in a wide range of multiscale simulation techniques and a wide variety of materials is addressed. All papers are free to read until the end of March 2012.

Focus section on Graphene modelling: morphology, defect mechanics and growth
This focus section covers recent progress, the successes and also the fundamental challenges that yet remain in the area of growth modelling, defect formation mechanisms, mechanics of rippling and wrinkling and the role of functional groups on morphology in graphene. All papers are free to read until December 2011

Highlights of 2010
We are delighted to offer a selection of research articles that reflect the breadth of high-quality research in Modelling and Simulation in Materials Science and Engineering. These articles are free to read throughout 2011.
