Show affiliationsThe aim of this textbook is to give insight into the characteristics and the design of digital filters. It briefly introduces the theory of continuous-time systems and the design methods for analogue filters. It adequately covers the design of IIR filters, non-recursive filters and the effects of finite register length.
I found the book readable with numerous examples and illustrations. I was particularly drawn to the explanation of techniques like oversampling and noise shaping in the latter part of the book. I am very keen to recommend this book for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. However, the price of £34.00 should have included a floppy disk or a CD for the computer routines for filter design programmes.
