The magnetic properties of solid solutions based on lanthanum and bismuth manganites were investigated. It is established that the substitution of
ions by
ones causes the transition from the ferromagnetic to the antiferromagnetic state while
is a ferromagnet. The results are explained in terms of the superexchange interaction via anions and local distortions of the crystal structure.
