Influence of Umklapp processes on the sign of phonon-drag thermopower in semiconductor superlattices

The phonon-drag thermopower, Sgp, is calculated for semiconductor superlattices, with the temperature gradient parallel to the superlattice axis, taking account of electron-phonon Umklapp processes. Sgp changes sign when the Fermi energy reaches the top of the miniband. The anomalous behaviour is attributed to the inclusion of U-processes.
