Show affiliationsThe bound-state problem for triaxial ellipsoidal infinite-barrier quantum dots has been solved. It is exactly solvable in terms of ellipsoidal coordinates and the eigenmodes are written in terms of Lamé wavefunctions. The need for all eight types of functions is shown. This presents a generalization over previous work on spheres and spheroids. Splitting of degeneracy and level crossing are obtained.
