LETTER TO THE EDITOR

The method of superposition of configurations is used to obtain accurate ab initio energy levels for the `2p hole' states of Cl II. The wavefunctions are generated using the superposition-of-configurations code CIV3. Relativistic effects are introduced by means of the Breit-Pauli approximation. Excellent agreement with recently published experimental data is observed and values are reported for levels which have not been determined experimentally.
