Show affiliations

A closed form expression for the scattering amplitude in the Coulomb-Glauber approximation for an arbitrary nlm to n'l'm' excitation of the hydrogen-like ions by the impact of structureless charged particles in the limit of infinitely large target nuclear charge ZT is obtained. Cross sections for a few excited-state to excited-state transitions by electron impact are presented.
