Parameter-free renormalization in the self-mass correction computation

We present a new approach to the renormalization procedure of a self-mass correction (SMC) to the one-particle energy level in an arbitrary local stationary field. A scheme proposed is based on the analytical properties of the SMC and does not use the cut-off parameters, usually employed in the standard technique. It is shown that the renormalized part of a SMC may be expressed by a convergent one-fold dispersion-like integral, which, together with a discrete spectrum contribution, gives the Lamb shift of the level considered.
