An experimental investigation of the autoionizing levels of neutral ytterbium

Sixteen autoionizing levels of Yb in the energy range from 50443 cm-1 to 57743 cm-1 were investigated by three-step laser excitation. A polarization technique for determining the total angular momentum J of the autoionizing state has been attempted.
