Double capture into autoionizing states in Iq+-He collisions at low impact energies

Show affiliations

The authors present a theoretical study of the autoionizing double capture in low energy collisions between highly charged N7+, O8+ or Ne8+ ions and helium. Close coupling calculations have been performed to evaluate the branching ratios of the various processes occurring in such collisions, the corresponding cross sections and the angular momentum distributions of the states (3l,3l') formed by double electron capture. The results are found to be in good agreement with the experimental results; the general features of the autoionizing double capture are discussed.
