Show affiliationsElastic differential cross sections have been computed from threshold to 100 eV. For the case of the positron-lithium system, T-matrix elements as obtained by Khan et al. (1987) and Sarkar et al. (1988) using five-star close-coupling approximations are employed. In the case of sodium, the four-state results of Sarkar et al. serve as input for the differential cross section. Higher partial-wave contributions are calculated with the use of the effective-range theory of Rosenberg et al. (1961). To see the convergence of the elastic differential cross sections on adding eigenstates, the authors report the results of two- and five-state close-coupling approximations for the case of lithium and two- and four-state results for sodium. The results are compared with available theoretical predictions.
