Show affiliationsThe effect of a strong magnetic field on the Josephson critical current Jc is considered. It is shown that if the Abrikosov vortex in the superconducting electrodes is rigidly pinned, the Jc value depends on the distribution of the vortex density and drops slowly with the increase in an external magnetic field. If the Abrikosov vortices within the electrodes are in a liquid phase there may be an exponentially rapid decrease in the magnitude of Jc with increase in the transverse field.
