Show affiliations

The paper describes the work which has led up to the design of a special form of microscope for the examination of opaque specimens in the ultra-violet. The following matters are discussed: the design of the optical system, the ultra-violet transmission of suitable materials, the ultra-violet reflecting power of certain metals, the fine adjustment, and the instrument in use.
