Heat transfer by simultaneous conduction and radiation through a non-absorbing medium

D W Stops

Show affiliations

It is shown that when heat is transferred across a gas by radiation and conduction together, the total heat flux is significantly dependent upon the position of a radiation shield interposed between the heat exchanging surfaces. There is one position in the case considered where the heat flux is a minimum.
