Show affiliationsA model which includes the effects of magnetic as well as atomic environment on the spatial magnetic moment fluctuations in binary alloys has been applied to measurements of the diffuse magnetic scattering from antiferromagnetic gamma -MnNi alloys. The application of this model has shown that the effects of magnetic environment are particularly important at concentrations approaching the critical concentration for the onset of long-range antiferromagnetic order and signifies some further success of the formalism of a model which has previously accounted for the moment defects in nickel-based ferromagnetic alloys.
