Show affiliationsInvestigating the long-time asymptotics of the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process, Sasamoto obtains rather indirectly a formula for the Tracy–Widom distribution for the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble. We establish that his novel formula indeed agrees with more standard expressions.
