Show affiliationsThe author applies singular perturbation theory to the study of a damped KdV soliton under the influence of space- and time-dependent external noise. He finds that asymptotically the shape of the averaged solution approaches that of a Gaussian packet, whose amplitude decays and width grows in the same way as in the case of purely time-dependent noise.
