The acceleration and diffusion of charged particles in a stochastic magnetic field

The problem of acceleration and diffusion of charged particles in a stochastic magnetic field is investigated. The analysis of earlier authors has been generalised to take into account non- delta -correlated stochastic processes. Using Khasminskii's limit theorem (1966) a rigorous analysis of the acceleration and diffusion of charged particles is presented. The results are obtained under very general conditions and are free from many limitations in the earlier work. Stochastic heating of the plasma is discussed briefly.
