The ANAIS billiard table

J -M Levy-Leblond

Show affiliations

The Nice Exploratoire exhibits a curious experiment: a ball rolling without slipping on a horizontal table arrives on a circular rotating disc. The ball is deflected, but nevertheless comes out of the rotating disc in the exact projection of its initial rectilinear trajectory! The phenomenon, elementary although non-trivial, is analysed and generalised.
