Show affiliationsA brief overview is presented of the stochastic methods utilized in the modelling of turbulent plasmas. The microscopic theories based on a kinetic equation for plasmas in the presence of fluctuating fields are first discussed, posing the problem of closure of the moment equations and the renormalization methods. The semi-dynamical methods based on Langevin equations and the associated hybrid kinetic equation are then presented. The occurrence of strange transport is illustrated. Finally, the continuous-time random walk models are briefly discussed.
