This paper deals with measurements of the light emitted and transmitted by the plasma resulting from the interaction of a Nd glass laser beam with a small pellet of lithium hydride suspended in vacuum. The effects obtained by varying the laser energy are particularly considered. A comparison of these results with the predictions of the current theory shows some disagreement, the possible origins of which are discussed.
