Show affiliationsThe technetium imager is dedicated to the scintigraphic display of low-energy gamma -ray emitters in large organs. It is based on the scanning principle using a focused collimator but, in contrast to traditional scanners, its drive mechanism is incorporated within an enclosed head. Like that of the Anger camera it can be positioned at any desirable angle relative to the patient and in contact with the area to be imaged. A proprietary drive mechanism blends alternative directional lines into a raster totally lacking in line structure. The head of the imager is mounted on a counter-balanced teeter-totter positioning device, which allows fingertip positioning in a vertical direction.
