Show affiliationsThe physics taught to 11-16 year-old pupils can often be set in Earth contexts in ways that highlight the key role that physics plays in many Earth processes and their effects. This is demonstrated and explained in the context of familiar physics content areas, namely: energy resources and transfer; light and sound; waves; Earth and beyond; and radioactivity. Some of the practical illustrations of these processes that can be used in the laboratory are also described.
