Show affiliationsThe results of the CCL key comparison on long gauge block measurement by interferometry (CCL-K2) are reported. The comparison involved the measurement, by 12 participating laboratories, of four steel gauge blocks ranging from 175 mm to 900 mm in length using techniques based on interferometry. The results are in good agreement—out of the 43 results contributing to the analysis, 40 are in agreement (within their k = 2 uncertainties) with the weighted mean values, and, of these, 31 results are in agreement with the weighted mean values within their standard uncertainties. The spread of results for deviation from nominal length is 200 nm with the majority of the results spanning a range of just ±50 nm either side of the weighted mean values. The results of this key comparison will contribute to the Mutual Recognition Arrangement and will be used to link with results from similar regional comparisons.
