Deformation layers in spark-machined and mechanically sectioned specimens of 0.2% C mild steel

Show affiliations

Deformation layers in spark-machined and mechanically sectioned specimens of 0.2% C mild steel were studied by means of thin foil electron microscopy. The damaged layer in the spark-machined specimens was considerably thicker than in the mechanically sectioned specimens; moreover the degree of deformation was higher.
