Show affiliationsAn experimental method is outlined for the solution of the axially symmetric Laplace equation

The well-established resistive sheet technique is employed using paper whose electrical properties are modified by the selective punching of small holes. Simple equations are developed for the calculation of the spatial distribution of the holes, and the modified sheet is shown to behave in a perfectly regular manner. The simplicity and flexibility of the more familiar paper analogue is retained for the solution of a class of problem normally obtained using the electrolytic tank.
