Show affiliationsThe magnetic behaviour of Sm(Co,Fe,Cu,Zr)z ribbons with z = 7.0 and 7.5 is investigated. The Henkel plots indicate that there is a strong intergrain exchange coupling (IGEC) effect in these ribbons. It is the IGEC that results in the phenomena of the interaction domains and remanence enhancement in the ribbons at room temperature. The contributions of IGEC and dipolar interaction to irreversible magnetization have been analysed to explain the phenomenon of open recoil loops. Due to the difference of the intensity of the IGEC, the magnetization changes with the component of the Sm(Co,Fe,Cu,Zr)z ribbons.
