Investigation of electrical conductivity of nylon-6 films doped with copper chloride

The effect of variation in the concentration of a dopant salt i.e. copper chloride, on the electrical conductivity of doped nylon-6 films has been investigated. The electrical conductivity of pure and doped films of nylon-6 doped with various concentrations of copper chloride (0.5% to 12.5%) is measured as a function of applied voltage and temperature. The plots of log I-log V for pure and doped films show that the current in both cases is space-charge limited. From these plots, the carrier mobility and the density of trapped carriers are calculated. It is observed that the mobility becomes maximum and the density of trapped carriers becomes minimum for a 1.25% doped film of nylon-6. Similar results are observed for current density and activation energy of the doped films.
